Temporary Lodging Expense (TLE) Guide: Get Your Stay Reimbursed

Foxhole Makes TLE Easy for Military Members

Moving for PCS or TDY? Foxhole provides lodging that meets Temporary Lodging Expense (TLE) requirements, just like a hotel. Follow this simple guide to ensure your stay is reimbursed.

What is TLE & Who Qualifies?

TLE helps active-duty military members cover temporary lodging costs during a PCS move within CONUS or designated locations.

You may qualify if:

  • You are relocating under PCS orders
  • You need temporary lodging while securing permanent housing
  • Your stay is within the 14-day TLE limit (extensions may be possible)

How to Get Reimbursed for Your Foxhole Stay

Step 1:

Book a Foxhole

Foxhole receipts are TLE-approved, meaning they work just like hotel receipts. Unlike Airbnb, Foxhole stays can be reimbursed.

Step 2:

Get Your TLE-Approved Receipt

Foxhole automatically provides a TLE-compliant receipt with:

  • Your Full Name
  • Check-in & Check-out Dates
  • Nightly Rate Breakdown (Room, Taxes, Fees)
  • Total Cost & Payment Method
  • Foxhole’s Business Name & Address

Tip: Download and print your invoice after booking.

Step 3:

Pay with an Accepted Method

  • Use your Government Travel Charge Card (GTCC) as required by the JTR.
  • If forced to use a personal card (Lost a GTCC etc.), keep proof of payment for reimbursement.

Step 4:

Submit Your TLE Claim

Once your stay is complete:

  • Print your Foxhole receipt
  • Complete DD Form 1351-2 (Travel Voucher)
  • Submit your claim to your finance office
